Package description

We leave the hotel at 05:00 am and drive across the city of Manaus to the Ducke Reserve (Great forest of Manaus). We are going up a tower on canopy layer for birds such as: macaws, toucan, parrots, araçaris and plenty of other birds. After the tower we are going to eat breakfast. Then we drive by air-conditioning vehicle to access the Rio Negro basin and plus a speed boat to go to the SDR-Lodge. The Sustainable Development Deserve of Rio Negro is a natural heritage reserve in which it combines the two types of waters of the Amazonas & Negro rivers, this place is very rich in wildlife. Lunch and accommodation at 12:00 pm (noon), in the afternoon we explore by motorized or paddles canoes for wildlife and we want to see a wonderful sunset. Meals & accommodation at the Lodge.

We leave by motorized canoe at 05:30 am, we want to see the birds & monkeys at dawn in the forest. We are going to explore for approximately two hours, going through the creeks and flooded Igapó. Breakfast at 08:30 am, morning for swimming with the dolphins (an instructive play). Lunch at 12:00 pm (noon), in the afternoon we are going to explore by canoeing to search for a magnificent primate the Golden-backed Uacari – Cacajao melanocephalus. Among Uacaris monkeys, the supposedly nearest to archetypic (prototypic) ancestral form for the genus represented by the extant Black-headed Uacaris (Van Roosmalen et al., 2000). Different primate ‘species migrate laterally during the aquatic phase to search for fruits and nuts from the low areas of the Rio Negro and can be seen during feeding.  Dinner and overnight in the boat!

At 05:00 am we start to navigate through the biggest river islands Archipellago of the world (The Anavilhanas), we explore through the creeks slowly and spotting the wildlife at the National Park. Our breakfast today will be served at 08:30 am, right after our breakfast we’ll board to the canoe again to visit the Wire-tailed Manakin – Pipra filicauda ‘arena. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm (noon), then we continue going upstream the Rio Negro until we reach Apuaú uplands (a pristine zone of primary jungle). We are going to do night jungle walk on this area. Dinner and overnight!

Breakfast at 06:00 am, morning jungle walk for direct observation of Fauna & Flora. We are going to learn about medicinal plants, ecological interactions, mammals, insects, birds, amphibians, reptiles at highland ecosystem. Lunch at 12:00 pm (noon), in the afternoon we navigate on the direction to the Amazon River (downstream), during navigation we will enjoy a lush landscape as well we observe birds such as:  parrots, toucans and macaws along the way. Dinner and overnight!

Today we will eat our breakfast during navigation, this trip will be taken you to a special ecological complex of the Rainforests. We are going to explore the Várzea floodplain, which has high diversity of habitats and is considered the most species-rich floodplain forests worldwide (Wittmann et al 2006). We are going to cross the meeting of the waters, and then we continue navigation through the Amazon river to connect to the biggest interfluve of the Amazon Basin. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm (noon), in the afternoon we are going by canoe paddle to explore the inundated Várzea to see animals that inhabit the canopy of the Forest. Regional meals such as: Amazonian fishes, fruits, nuts, will be served by our chef during the excursion. Dinner & Overnight!

We will get up early, at 05:30 am we will leave by canoe and we explore along one creek for birdwatching.

This is the best time for birds and other animals, so we paddle carefully to avoid noise, then we explore specific sight for birds – we want to see endemic species. Breakfast will be served at 09:00 am, then we’ll explore a small trail to get closer to more species, it’s during this route that we get good identification. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm (noon), in the afternoon we will cruise upstream to a small creek again, where wildlife is abundant and then we go by motorized canoe in search for birds and to observe Flora and fauna. Overnight in the boat!

At 06:30 am is breakfast, we will walk in different jungle to observe animals, we also interact with some interesting species such as: frogs, bullet ants, spiders, mammals, birds, etc., we are walking in pristine vegetation where the species diversity is delineated by a geographical barrier. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm (noon), in the afternoon we navigate downstream the Madeira river and we will enjoy the navigation heading back to the Amazon River. Dinner and overnight!

At 05:00 am we board the speedboat to go to a place where the Tamarins live, these are the symbol monkeys of Manaus. We explore the Igarapé (creek) to pot the small monkeys, and to observe the birds and Sloth (Bradypus sp). Breakfast is served at 08:00 am, then we will travel through the meanders of the Amazon River on the way back to Manaus. Drop off at the hotel!
